50 manhole vestibules ready for installation in the city of Oslo

Holscher Design has designed 50 manhole vestibules ready for installation in the city of Oslo. Each of the vestibules is produced in cast iron and weighs around 2 tons each.

Holscher Design’s Manhole Vestibules were chosen by Oslo municipality among 80 suggestions at a design competition in 2010. The twisted slits in the vestibules outline the spiral movement of ventilation, ensuring proper draining and protecting the surface against graffiti.

Dynamic and
sculptural shape

The ornaments and the dynamic, sculptural shape give the urban elements character and recognisability. The vestibules are produced at Sabro A/S Foundry and function as both ventilation and access to technical underground installations in the City of Oslo.
